The first priority in any lab should be the safety of all researchers and other lab workers. When your work inevitably requires you to keep some unstable and highly reactive substances close at hand, it's essential to keep them tucked away in environments where they cannot cause harm. Mishaps with dangerous chemicals may either seriously hurt lab personnel or irreparably damage valuable lab equipment.
The chemical properties of certain compounds make it so that human error is not even strictly necessary for something bad to happen. A chemical placed in the wrong surroundings, stored in the wrong type of storage unit or around the wrong types of other chemicals, can go off and wreak untold havoc.
Corrosion is also a serious long-run danger when dealing with stainless steel equipment because all metal can rust. A lab bench, cart, table, or set of lockers of cabinets become extremely unreliable and virtually useless if it becomes rusted or corroded. When this happens, you'll need to replace whatever has been corroded.
The importance of avoiding all of this cannot be overstated. Thankfully, we manufactures chemical- and corrosion-resistant stainless steel cabinets. Our units can be custom-made to be immune to powerful acids that would chew up weaker materials. This is especially important for casework doubling as a laboratory workbench. As such units allow lab scientists and technicians to work and store their chemicals in the same spot.
Stainless steel has its name for a reason. The metal is totally non-porous and therefore doesn't retain any moisture or allow leftover chemicals to seep into itself. That makes it easy to clean. Its chemical-resistant properties, mentioned above, also make it able to endure bleach or other aggressive cleaning agents, and that only adds to the ease with which it can be kept sterile. Easy cleaning means fewer headaches for those who do the cleaning.
Cleanliness, sterility, prevention of infections and the like are essential to most labs. Once again, worker safety is paramount. For these reasons, you should never overlook how easy stainless steel casework is to clean

Stainless steel casework is highly durable, easy to clean, and simple to maintain. It is 100% recyclable and maintains its value. Mott's steel consists of approximately 75% - 85% recycled content. Applications include pharmaceutical manufacturing, food processing, health care, agricultural products and services, clean rooms, operating rooms, animal facilities, autopsy areas, and radioactive processes that feature high use of water wash-down to eliminate contamination and maintain excellent cleanliness.
Laboratories and medical facilities that require sterile work and storage areas are a great fit for stainless steel. Harsh cleaning agents are common in hospitals, clean rooms and pharmaceutical settings. Where other cabinets and lab furniture might corrode or wear, 316 stainless maintains its integrity.
Stainless steel casework, countertops and cabinets are generally heavy duty as well. Many models of cabinets have customizable options including removable panels, soft closing drawers, glass fronts, sloped tops, adjustable shelves and interior racking systems.
Common applications for stainless steel cabinets and casework include:
▪ Surgical rooms
▪ Sterile cores
▪ Laboratories
▪ Endoscopy and radiology departments
▪ Hospital storage
▪ Cleanrooms
▪ Food sciences
▪ Pharmaceutical
Mobile Cabinets
Mobile cabinets offer flexible storage that is easily optimized to the available space. Safe handling and retrieval of materials or supplies is as simple as wheeling it from one room to the next.
Mobile cabinets commonly have non-marking rubber swivel casters that also provide great traction. Other locking casters or leveling casters are also available. These are an ideal choice when flexibility is a must.
Lab Base Cabinets
Lab base cabinets, or floor mounted casework, hold heavy scientific equipment and lab countertops. They are available in various sizes and configurations, making it easy to design a functional lab. Typically these cabinets are used in applications where a worktop will be applied above for the use of a table top. Standard lab cabinets are 22"D with a 7"D rear chase opening behind left for any services such as plumbing or electrical needed to route in the space.
Tall Cabinets
Tall cabinets offer the advantage of vertical storage. They are commonly used for storing reagents, or act as catheter cabinets in medical settings. Available in a mix of heights and depths with tempered glass door windows or safety glass options. We can also help design and supply custom tall stainless steel cabinets to meet specific needs.
Freestanding/Medical
The freestanding medical cabinets come in both fixed and mobile models. They provide flexible storage and adjustable shelves.
Regardless of placement, they have the ability to stand alone. Use them in sanitary and heavy-duty applications such as cleanrooms, laboratories, medical supply storage and other healthcare applications.
Drawer Style
Drawer style cabinets offer multiple sliding drawers stacked on top of each other or door drawer combinations. These cabinets have options for soft closing drawers and full extension drawer slides.
